Steve reaches outPosted: March 17, 2011
In a letter today to all Apple workers in Japan, Steve Jobs expressed his willingness to do whatever was necessary to help his employees and their families through the crisis:
To Our Team in Japan,
We have all been following the unfolding disaster in Japan. Our hearts go out to you and your families, as well as all of your countrymen who have been touched by this tragedy.
If you need time or resources to visit or care for your families, please see HR and we will help you. If you are aware of any supplies that are needed, please also tell HR and we will do what we can to arrange delivery.
Again, our hearts go out to you during this unimaginable crisis.
Please stay safe.
Steve and the entire Executive Team
As I’ve said before, this is something great about Apple. They work their employees hard – Steve is famous for his astronomical expectations, but they also do the right thing when it matters. The fact that a major CEO who just released the product of the year, and is dealing with serious personal health problems, took the time and effort to make this offer says a lot.
Everything I’ve heard about Apple in Japan has been overwhelmingly positive. I wouldn’t say that no other companies are making this kind of effort, since I generally don’t read about other companies. Just that Apple is doing a great job.
