mimics

Ben Brooks comments on the horrible new look of iCal. I agree with his points – it makes less and less sense to mimic real-world interfaces in software since most people have already used virtual calendars, calculators, etc for many years now. I have to say though, there is one redeeming quality of the new iCal. The new “+” button on the upper left is supposedly a “fast event creator.” If this works anything like QuickCal, then Apple has been giving some thought to interface after all. Entering dates and events is still the worst aspect of iCal (and especially the iOS version) by far, and it needs drastic improvement. I can’t be the only one hoping for a native QuickCal function.
