Sticky Buttons and WD-40

I had no idea this was such a common problem, but unresponsive home buttons have become a hot topic in the technosphere. First it was suggested that the problem could be fixed with a software force quit, which was frankly ridiculous. Now Khoi Vinh suggests spraying some WD-40 at the thing until it works properly. Or, presumably, until the phone stops working entirely from saturating the insides with oil.

I had no idea this was such an issue – my iPod touch is over 3 years old now and the home button still works perfectly. I can’t say the same about its volume rocker, but I’m sure as hell not spraying lubricant at it.
